Hi everyone. It’s Felicity.Today’s video is a bit different from my usual content.I’d like to talk about my diagnosis of endometriosis [music] and adenomyosis, and my experiences with treatment and dealing with chronic pain. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always been in pain.During my teen years, it started as just really painful periods, but soon turned into an all day everyday thing.I was glued to my hot water bottle,so much so that I had burns all over my stomach that took years to fade away.
To such an extent or great degree (that).
I’ve always hated getting up early, so much so that I typically work late just so I can sleep in a little while longer.
We’ve taken huge losses this year, so much so we may have to sell the business if things don’t drastically improve.
At its worst, the pain made me pass out.And in my last two years of high school,I would only end up attending three to four days a week as I was bedridden, the rest of the time.I also kept my pain to myself.I thought it was normal, that I was just unlucky or that my anxiety was making it worse.I knew what endometriosis was, but I never thought that I could have it.There wasn’t any representation out there when I was younger,so I didn’t really know what someone with endometriosis looked like.
It wasn’t until I watched a YouTube series, where the host got diagnosed and went through surgery, that I actually saw someone dealing, with the same things that I was, dealing with.I remember watching it and just crying because I felt so seen, and it gave me the motivation to actually see a doctor and get my pain sorted.

现在你该把自己的事好好安排一下了。
When I went to my first doctor’s appointment,I told her my symptoms hoping she would be the one to suggest endometriosis.I was very shy, so I didn’t speak up about it.This [music] backfired on me though, and she put me on a 12-week no gluten low FODMAP diet.I knew this wasn’t the answer, and as I ate my cardboard gluten-free bread, the courage to speak up stirred within me.During our next appointment, I straight up told her,“I think I have endometriosis.” So,she referred me to the nearest endometriosis specialist.Lesson learned, be assertive when discussing your medical needs.I was put on a months-long, waiting list holding onto a small spark of hope that my pain could be fixed.
At the specialist appointment, the doctor took [music] one look, at the hot water bottle burns, on my stomach and was fully convinced, that I had endo.We booked in for surgery right away, and she also suggested that while I was under, she could give me a Mirena IUD to help slow the regrowth.I agreed to this, not knowing that that would be the worst decision of my entire life.Surgery day rolled around,
Roll around (or roll round) means to arrive or happen, especially after a period of waiting or as part of a recurring cycle.
When someone says “surgery day rolled around,” they mean that after time passed—and after waiting for it—the day scheduled for the surgery finally arrived.
Common Usage & Examples
Passing of time / Regular occurrences: It is used for days, seasons, dates, or recurring events.“Before I knew it, Friday rolled around again.”
“Every time winter rolls around, I end up catching a cold.”
Informal tone: It implies that time steadily moved forward until that milestone or date inevitably showed up on the calendar.
and it was rough. My surgery was 4 hours long, and they removed endometriosis lesions from all over.Afterwards, they told me I had stage four endometriosis,as well as adenomyosis, which is where the endometriosis, lesions grow within the walls of your reproductive organs. These [music] lesions couldn’t be removed.I was super nauseous after surgery and had to stay the night in the hospital.I was also still in a ton of pain. When I was released the next day, again,I was still in terrible pain.I thought that it was the incisions causing the pain, but it was actually the Mirena.
I was completely bed-bound for the next 2 weeks, only getting through the day by using strong painkillers. The pain was so bad,I ended up in the ER after I passed out on the kitchen floor. They told me to give the Mirena time to settle, but I just wish I made them take it out then and there. For the next 9 months, I lived in excruciating pain.I was taking painkillers all day, every day.It genuinely felt like my body was contracting, trying to push the Mirena out.

The pain also shot down my legs, and it was difficult to walk. The specialist, kept insisting to keep waiting and to just keep taking more pain relief, and even put me on additional birth control, but [music] I couldn’t do it anymore. It was making me extremely depressed.I was staying home all the time, and I just wasn’t taking care of myself.I made a final appointment with the specialist, demanding to have it removed, and after some convincing, she finally took it out.And the relief was immediate.
My whole body relaxed for the first time in so long, and that’s how I developed a hatred for going to the doctors.Over the next few years,I trialed different birth control to try and find the right one for me.It was all right.

The pain was minimal, and I could finally live my life how I wanted to.I was even able to move interstate and start university.Life was pretty good up until around mid last year.I had actually been off the pill for over at this point,as I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the side effects anymore. However, this meant that my endo had free, reign to grow back and start, causing me daily pain again. It’s really ramped up recently,
“Ramped up” is a common phrase that means to increase, boost, or make something much larger. It often describes a quick rise in business production, work effort, speed, or safety rules
to the point where I’m now on the waitlist to see another endo specialist, at the end of the year.I’ll be looking at getting my second surgery in 2027,which will almost be 10 years since my first [music] one.I’m hoping things will go a lot smoother this time.My current daily chronic pain stops me from working a regular job,
and I spend a lot of time resting.I’m extremely, proud of myself for working so, hard to build a life where I, can support myself through self-employment,and I’m also so thankful to you guys for supporting my videos.Even though the channel is still small, the extra revenue I’ve been getting has helped tremendously. It means I have more time to take care of myself, and I don’t have to worry about filling as many commission slots.
