I do not recognize canteen

It is a disturbed topic that whether the university canteens of us should be open to the public. Some would think we should, some not. In my opinion, facilities on campus are supposed to be used by the public. I will divided my views into these parts mentioned below.

In the first place/Firstly/First of all, opening to the public means everyone could make use of our university canteens. It is a extremely convenient thing for local residents who live nearby. In addition to that, we cannot forget that colleges are build and supported by those people who pay taxes to them every single year. So, essentially universities are part of land for everybody.

Nevertheless, some would deny that we should not let others enter colleges simply for they would disturb students who are learning. I believe making an appointment in advance before entering college is a useful solution.

In conclusion, with the development of universities, we can make significant progress to this problem in the future.

example

I firmly believe that university canteens should indeed be open to the public.¹ This move not only enhances the utilization of campus resources but also contributes to community cohesion.² University canteens, often renowned for their diverse and nutritional menus, could serve as an additional dining option for the local community, particularly those seeking healthy and affordable meals. Moreover, opening up canteens to the public could potentially generate additional revenue for the university, which could then be reinvested in improving facilities or supporting academic programs.³ Such an approach also fosters a sense of inclusivity, breaking down barriers between the university and the surrounding community.⁴ However, it is crucial to ensure that the flow of external visitors does not disrupt the daily lives of students and staff.⁵ Well-planned measures, such as designated visiting hours and appropriate seating arrangements, can help strike a balance.⁶ In conclusion, opening university canteens to the public is a beneficial endeavor that can bring about positive changes for both the university and the wider community, provided that it is implemented with careful consideration and planning.⁷

passage 1

[1] A JetBlue Airlines flight from West Palm Beach to New York City was forced to turn around and land Sunday morning after the plane struck a bird. The flight from Palm Beach International Airport to LaGuardia Airport turned around just minutes after takeoff following the strike.

No injuries were reported on the plane, and the flight took off once again 7.5 hours after the first attempt. “It was like a split second of panic…that resulted in this nervous reaction on the plane,” said passenger Brian Healy. [2] “There was total quiet, and then there was relief when the plane came to a stop.” An email from JetBlue read, “Our team is working to accommodate customers on later flights.”

passage 2

A deadly snake, which had finally been tracked down after escaping a zoo, has slipped away for the second time.

track down: to find sb/sth after searching in several different places 搜寻到;跟踪找到;追查到 SYN trace

The police have so far failed to track down the attacker.
警方至今未能追捕到攻击者。

The poisonous snake forced the closure of the attraction last week when staff noticed the disappearance.

After six days of desperate searching, he was eventually found and placed in a supposedly secure area. [3] But it seems the animal is no fan of the zoo, because yet again he is out on the loose. [4] The snake is a relative newcomer to the zoo but has already been frustrating its staff. The staff believe he squeezed himself out of a gap located around new energy-saving bulbs installed inside the snake house. He was only found the first time around because staff brought in a special machine to trace him inside a wall opening.
This kind of snake is one of the most deadly and poisonous in the wild, and they can range from 3 to 5 meters in length.
