How This Public Image was Used to Find 1000s of 2b2t Bases - YouTube

This image right here pretty much sums up the no com exploit. The exploit that tracks literally every player on the server for over two years that changed 2b2t forever. Tt’s a heat map that shows all player activity on the server during the exploits data collection period. Now this image only covers a relatively small area of the server’s map the rest of the data is kept private. So this image is really the only useful piece of coordinate data that the public has access to and one player in particular took full advantage of it.

It all began when the no com exploit got patched and this clip started to spread across 2b2t discord servers. It basically shows an animation of player activity on the server and that’s when a player by the name of mac tonight took notice. Now just a bit of insight on this player. Mack is by far one of the most infamous base hunters on 2b2t. He’s been doing it for over 3 years and has literally been to thousands of bases. Every time he comes across a base he screenshots it, notes the coordinates and takes a world download if it’s interesting enough. So if you built a base and didn’t secure it properly. It’s possible that he’s been to it. So when mack saw this video he got the idea to possibly use it to find bases on the server, but trying to find the scale of the pixels in relation to in-game coordinates proved to be difficult. So at the time it was just kept as an idea. That was until Fitmc released his video explaining the no com exploit in more detail and that’s when this image was shown to the public for the first time. A complete standalone image of player activity on the server but the issue was that it was only 1080p which didn’t help much. If only there was a higher resolution image of this map available to the public, turns out there was. Leijurv one of the no-com masterminds made a post on the nerds in Github explaining the exploit in more detail. But he also released this, a 4k resolution overworld heat map and best of all it revealed the scale. One pixel equals an eight by eight chunk area and the entire screenshot covers approximately half a million by a quarter million blocks.

That’s a lot of terrain to cover and is significantly more area than the 100k world download. So it was very likely that most of the hotspots on this image had to be bases. Now in all honesty, this does seem like a pretty simple feat that really anyone could accomplish. so it’s
really just a matter of who gets to it first. You see there’s this thing on 2b2t where if something big is released, like for example the 100k world download, it’s usually automatically assumed that somebody else already found the good stuff and griefed it. But that’s not necessarily the case, I mean the size this image covers is huge. Somebody just had to be willing enough to see everything for themselves and that’s exactly what mac did. He started his journey of traveling to every hotspot he could find on the map as long as it was at least 50 000 blocks out from spawn and the stuff he found. Well, just see for yourself.

Along the way mack would circle each hot spot that he went to, just so he wouldn’t accidentally go over it again and so far he’s been to over 180 hot spots and those were just the ones he’s been to
himself. That’s right. He recruited others to help him travel and document as many hot spots on the heat map as possible, because there was just no way he’d be able to do it alone, and in time it was
very likely that others were attempting to do exactly what mac was doing, possibly with intentions that weren’t the same as his. So it was crucial that mack and his team worked around the clock to find as many bases as possible.

So what’s mack going to do with all these places he found. Well so far there are not any specific long-term plans on what to do with the findings. But what he has been doing is locating signs in the base and contacting the base owners. But maybe sometime in the future something more can be done with it all. If you have any ideas, let me know in the comments. But the bottom line is that the opportunity was there and mack instantly took it and good thing he did by going to these bases taking screenshots and world downloads. 2b2t’s history is being kept forever.

That’s how SalC1’s base wasn’t grieved until recently. He’s shown the terrain in many videos but everyone assumed that the base was already grieved and didn’t bother. It wasn’t until someone accidentally stumbled upon it when it was finally grieved.
