break out

Devastating fires recently broke out in Wang, Hong Kong, engulfing four apartment blocks and tragically taking over 150 lives. Elderly residents, firemen, pets. It was a horrible, completely preventable outcome of Hong Kong’s rampant greed, the complete lack of restriction, regulation, and basic right or wrong morals when it comes to Hong Kong’s property overlords, the elites of the city.I mean, hundreds of thousands of Hong Kongers live in subdivided, flats that are so claustrophobic, they’re known as coffin apartments.Okay,I can guarantee you the Wangfuck fires are just the tip of the iceberg here.Like most British people, I’m sure when I saw these fires,I had PTSD flashbacks. It brought up memories from one of the most memorable, news headlines of my childhood.Grenfell.In June 2017, a council estate in Kensington,London, which for all you Americans would be called the projects or section 8 housing, went up in flames.A comparable amount of lives were lost back then, as were recently in Hong Kong.

The fires even look suspiciously similar, don’t they?Worst of all, both infernos were comparably impossible for the firefighters to control. Why are there similarities?Well, [music] they were both exterior fires.Grenfell had recently been renovated, modernized in the worst way possible. The construction company had used their genius, costeffective, profit maximalizing brains and cladded the entire building in unfathomably, flammable material, plus incredibly flammable insulation. The Conservatives, Britain’s right-wing party who ran Kensington, were also at fault.Predictably, all the social housing they controlled had extremely shitty investment. The properties didn’t even meet the pretty relaxed regulations at the time, most horrifically in the safety features.Fire doors, fire extinguishers, fire, anything.Okay, they didn’t give a [screaming] Tories, happily cut any social spending they could in favor of private investment.I mean, they’re the ones who hired the construction company, which essentially.

seller taped aerosol cans around Grenfell Tower just to save a few pennies. The 2025 Hong Kong fires were exterior, too.The apartment blocks [clears throat] were under renovation, and the bamboo scaffolding, surrounding the building was lined with flammable green mesh.Surprise, surprise.Flammable plastic mesh is a lot cheaper than fireproof plastic mesh.On top of that, highly combustible, styrofoam [music] had been used to cover the windows facing the scaffolding.Surprise, surprise.Turns out packing a bunch of flammable, styrofoam, into a window is a cheaper way to protect the glass than using nonflammable, cement boards or metal coverings.Starting to see a pattern.Maybe this is the most important [music] way Grenfell and Wangfuck are related. Both fires were the fault of greedy construction/development, companies cutting costs using unsafe, cheap materials. But also, don’t forget the government’s, lack of regulation or enforcement and simply their laziness, which let these.

private companies get away with wrapping entire, apartment blocks in literal fire [music] starter, turning these lowincome housing estates into 70 m tall matchboxes. All it took was dry, low humidity, windy weather in Hong Kong. All it took was a fridge malfunctioning in London. And you’ve [music] got hundreds of completely preventable casualties.Okay.Now, to put Hong Kong’s insane situation into perspective,I’m going to have to ramble on about their previous owners, Britain, for about 3 minutes, and you’re going to have to listen.Yeah.Whether you like it or not, mate.Yes, I am digitally holding your ass at knife point. But it’s very relevant.Much like the UK, Hong Kong loves beer. They love greasy spoon calves. They love double-decker methods of transport. They hate communism and China. And they also have a comparably, up housing situation which directly leads to disasters like London 2017,like Hong Kong 2025.Both cities have home ownership rates of about 47%.So less than half of London and.

less than half of Hong Kong live, in homes they personally own. This is kind of low for affluent economies already. However, let’s zoom in on young adults.People under the age of 35.OH.25 years ago,Hong Kong’s home ownership rate for young adults under the age of 35 was 23%.Now it’s 7%.During Gen Z’s lifetime, it’s become almost impossible to own somewhere to live.[music] Which is why you have every right to drop kick a boomer in their head.If they try and tell you, mate, all you got to do if you want to get yourself a house, maybe even two houses, work harder. That’s all you got to do, mate. That’s what we did back in my day.Me and my mates worked hard for everything we got.All you guys are just soft, emotional, woke slackers. You have every ethical right to kill that guy.Okay?Kill him. Please genuinely kill him.Look at this graph. It proves everything I’m saying. In the UK, here you can see the amount of new homes being built.Used to be a lot, right?Apply the basic supply and demand principle.

The average house price was very low back in the day. Now, uh,yeah, let’s just say the average house price is extremely high, unaffordably high. This is a very old graph, by the way. It’s way, way, way, way,way worse right now.The same phenomenon is occurring in Hong Kong. Here you can see the ratio of, >> new build >> to housing price, has gone up incredibly, recently. Also, a lot of these are rentals.A lot of these used to be private houses for humans. Now they’re rentals owned by evil reptilian companies.Renting is literally the only option if you want to start living in 2025 London, which is great if you’re a real estate company because you make the investment, back on your property over time.Plus, renters pay you every month and then maintain the property, whilst the value goes up.Oh my god, jackpot. This is because the UK doesn’t have much regulation. There is no government price control. All rentals are just offered at market rate. And coincidentially,

the large real estate companies own pretty much the entire market. So, they can just manipulate it and charge as much as they want. It’s not just rentals, though. If you want to buy an apartment in London, just have a look on right move.Yeah, you might notice a lot of the, listings have a sneaky little, clause written in small text, at the bottom.Leasehold shared ownership.I only get 35% of my crib. What? What am I supposed to do?Stay in the kitchen the whole time?I can’t go in the living room, bro.I don’t own that bit.Well, [music] not quite. It just means your crib is only partly yours for like 80 years.meaning any investment value for you is lost.No one wants to buy a flat they can only live in for a limited amount of time, especially if they don’t own the flat.Plus, the UK government is really, really cracking down on smaller, private landlords who only have like two properties.Plus, the UK is really really cracking down on taxes for the middle bands, and then we we don’t have any more middle bands.

All my bands is gone.It all equals the erosion of the middle class.About 25 years ago, you had poor people renting, middle class owning property, upper class owning property, elites owning property. Now we have poor people renting, middle class renting, upper class renting, elites owning property. And that whole middle section is being mashed into one unified, lower class due to the massive taxes, which are applied to them but are not applied to the British elite,multi-millionaires, and billionaires. The UK government allows tax evasion schemes.Maybe it might have something, to do with the fact that the, government and their mates are, the ones using those schemes.Yep, the UK is starting to feel a little bit like Hong Kong. That’s right.Nowhere else in the world is the lack of a middle class, more clear than in Hong Kong. You are either broke or balling in this city.Real estate here is even less regulated than in London.I genuinely think Hong Kong is, like the only place on earth, you’ll see billiondoll.

luxury malls, the most highclass establishments I’ve ever stepped foot in.And then opposite over the street, there’s an apartment block obviously split into subdivided slum housing. There’s actually this one street in Cowoon, City where I went to get coffee one time. The entire road is full of supercars every single day.So you might be thinking, “Wow,this must be a nice posh bit of Hong Kong.” Oh.Oh.Oh.Okay.Oh.All right. The fact that Repulse Bay,where a one bed pretty mid apartment, could set you back like hundreds of millions of US dollars, exists two metro lines away from Shemu Pool is insane.Okay, this part of Hong Kong is where you can find the notorious, coffin apartments or cage homes. That neither sound too appealing though, right? They’re basically normal Hong Kong flats which are very small to begin with, split up into 10 to 30 rooms. These subdivision boxes are like 2x1, m wide and they’re not even a meter tall sometimes. And this isn’t even really considered poverty in Hong Kong.

These residents usually work pretty normal jobs.Cleaners, construction workers, security guards, waiters, elderly people with bad pensions. They’re all subjected to slum living.I don’t even want to imagine, what living in one of these must be like in the unbearable, moisture and heat of a Hong Kong summer.Bro,it’s pretty unbearable, when you got, AC and unlimited, cold beers living in a coffin, apartment in the hot season must genuinely be hell on earth. And you guessed it, quite a big significant fire risk. These cage rooms exist partly because the minimum wage is low in Hong Kong. There’s also a lack of laws against part-time sketchy employment.Workers often work full-time jobs but get paid part-time wages. However, the terrible, coffin housing situation is way more down to Hong Kong’s real estate market. The artificial generation of the most expensive property market on planet Earth. Why?Well, HK is one of the most free market capitalist economies in the world, except for in one way, land and housing.

The Hong Kong, government actually kind of doubles as a massive real estate company. They own all the nation’s land and lease it to development, companies to build on.But they artificially keep the value of these developments skyscrapingly, high because they put a massive, limit on the amount of properties, that can be built for an entire, region with almost 8 million, inhabitants.Do you want to know how many land auctions, the government holds yearly out of all this vast, undeveloped, land? How many plots does the government allow developers to build on every year?5 to 10.5 to 10, bro.5 to 10.So supply and demand means housing costs absolutely tons in Hong Kong. This affects the middle class a lot because even if you work a decent job, earn decent money, you’re still forced into shitty, tiny, horrible accommodation because it’s all you can afford.Property is so rare that the value is pushed up.And the HK government knows if they get rid of all these coffin apartments, they’ll have a vast homelessness problem.

And if there’s one thing they really, really, really don’t like in Hong Kong, it’s homelessness.I think if you sleep on a bench here, you genuinely get thrown into a trash compactor. You simply get [music] incinerated.I think so.There is a hardly any crackdown at all on the cage homes. You might be thinking, well, any normal, mentally, stable, human would propose the idea of fixing this by simply building more homes. But unfortunately, this would slightly negatively affect the government’s property portfolio’s, value.Less demand, less value. This would also negatively, financially affect a few Hong Konges real estate companies who have some, uh let’s say under the table deals with the government to say the least. This is how the elites in Hong Kong are purging the middle class, leaving just poor and ultra rich people behind. And just for clarification, right, their neighbors, China,do the opposite. The Chinese government, much like Hong Kong, own all the land, but instead of artificially.

limiting the amount of property that can be built on this land to increase, the value of said property, they do the opposite.China actually overbuild homes. There is a surplus of housing in China, more than they need, which is why you might associate China with ghost cities. The CCP intentionally build too much housing which artificially, lowers the value of real estate in China. The Chinese government makes a loss on housing, not a profit. It’s the absolute opposite to Hong Kong. This is one of the reasons they are so divided and low-key hate each other.Through China’s policy though, their result is a 90% home ownership rate.90% of Chinese people, 1 and a half billion people, bro, this entire blob own their home.I’m not [clears throat] trying to glaze, okay?I’m not glazing and glazing on China, okay?I’m not.But godamn, bro,I want to own a home I can live in.I know you do as well.I know the majority of people everywhere on Earth want their own crib. However,

most of them will never ever ever statistically, ever be able to cough up even, close to what London or Hong, Kong’s real estate companies, artificially, inflate their prices to.But I want to have my own crib.Okay, this should not be a crazy unreasonable request. You know, for the cost of a tiny 150 square ft Hong Kong studio apartment, you could typically get a modern multiplebedroom, apartment 10 times the size right over the border in Shenzen.Yeah, you might have to convert to WeChat, start scrolling reels in Chinese,be watched by surveillance cameras 110% of the time, and get your milk tea delivered by robot drones. But hey, think about that floor space, bro.Think about that floor space. If any people in China are currently watching this video, they are guaranteed to be using a forbidden method. For example, VPNs,I see you, bro.I see you.Jang Wei, I know what you’re up to.I got President Xi on the line right now. This is because the government really monitors, surveills, and censors.

the internet to the point where in China, it’s common to be called into the police station. The police officially invite you to have tea with them.Over this cup of tea, they then grill you, investigate you over words used online. If you’re lucky, you might get a nice holiday, but mainly they’ll just confiscate your phone, monitor your future texts, maybe get you to delete some tweets. Here is the actual chat logs, of a Chinese guy who was texting, his mate after his mate got invited, to tea.Why did you leave every group and then join another?Because malicious people are everywhere.I need to break from the shackles of the internet, and become a truly good young person who is beneficial, to socialism. This is what the police officer taught me.Uh, okay.Yes, classmate. You understand, bro?I never thought I’d see anyone top the efforts of the UK undercover police.>> My guy, I beg you explain to me briefly what you’re doing, brother.>> Driller, what you telling me,bro?Hope you’re all good in that, man.

Well, can you patting me,big man?What?What?10 10.Oh, my slime.I know you really don’t know my them like that, but I was wondering if like I could purchase something still.Just a bit of grub mula. These mugs may very well be inviting you over for some tea soon. That’s right.Recently, the UK is getting a bit Chinese. The online safety act, the arrests for online behavior. It’s absolutely paramount right now that you protect yourself.Wear some protection. That’s right.Did you really think you could, get away with having a video, like this in your internet history, without getting your IP address raided by special forces? No way.But what if I told you right, now you could just switch your, IP address and prevent anyone, from ever monitoring your internet, activity from now onwards. All you need is Cyber GhostVPN.I use this VPN myself. Not even joking.Every day. Thanks to these guys for helping me out and also sponsoring this video. But this should really be a no-brainer for you guys.I mean,

No, it’s a skyscraper emergency training simulator. This is not AI.This is really how they’re moving in Shenzen.Okay, for comparison,in Hong Kong, they couldn’t find enough taps in the vicinity, of the apartment fires to connect the fire trucks to a sufficient, amount of water to put out the fires that took the lives of almost 200, innocent people, including one fireman. They couldn’t find enough water pumps.Look, I don’t want to sound like I’m meat riding China, okay?I really don’t.But maybe Mr.Hong Kong government.Maybe you could potentially come to the tiniest, middle ground between the runaway, unregulated, lethal, inhumane capitalism of Hong Kong and the authoritarian, dystopian, futuristic, socialism, slop of China, and just install a few more water pumps next to the highly flammable apartments, so that if,god forbid, an inferno lights up,you can at least stop the flames before they take out 14 Travis Scott concerts, worth of innocent casualties.ies.Is that really the craziest idea ever?Really?

These blocks weren’t even coffin apartments. They were pretty decent homes, yet so many costs were cut by the greedy ass company in charge of it.Not only in the construction floors.No.Apparently,the security was so underfunded and lackluster, that when residents in one apartment block smelt smoke, went down to the lobby and checked what was going on with the security guard,he told them, “Nah,bro. It ain’t You’re just smelling the smoke from a little exterior, fire two buildings [music] down.I wouldn’t worry about it.Just go back upstairs and finish your lunch.Sending elderly residents to their deaths.I just personally don’t think that’s very cool.Crazy take.I know.Crazy take.Fire alarms in the Wangfuck apartment complex had been turned off for months. This is basic maintenance work that could have been solved with like 20, bro.It could have saved so many lives. But no, no,no, no,no.You’re sounding a bit Chinese, bro. That sounds like CCP propaganda. That sounds like Shing Jingping, man.

You disgusting communist filth.Just look at our election robot instead. That will make you appreciate the democracy we’re so proud of here, bro.Yeah.This leads me to bamboo. In general, building a couple luxury, pen houses in Repulse, Bay is way more profitable for Hong Kong’s government and development, companies than building lowincome, housing. But on the off chance they do,they use bamboo scaffolding during the [music] construction or maintenance. The majority of all buildings you see in Hong Kong in the city, were crafted using bamboo scaffolding.Apart from like the 10% of super super high-end luxury westernstyle, developments outside of the main city which are built using metal scaffolding. But if you walk around the main city, you’ll be surrounded by bamboo. Why?It’s traditional, cost-effective,quick to assemble, flexible,it can wiggle and fit around, all the tricky angles of the, dense Hong Kong environment.Low paid laborers know how to use it in and out,

and despite your possible preconceptions, is actually very safe. The 25 fatal workplace accidents, including bamboo scaffolding in the last 10 years, can almost all be blamed on rushing, cost cutting, and mismanagement from the construction companies maintaining the scaffolding, not the bamboo itself.Sound familiar?Important fact, bamboo is not wood. It’s actually a type of grass. It just behaves a bit like wood, which makes it perfect for scaffolding in Hong Kong. They already have shitloads of bamboo. It can be used as a super lightweight, flexible, cheap alternative to steel poles. It behaves like sturdy wood, but isn’t flammable. At least it’s not that flammable.Bamboo is fire resistant. It doesn’t just burst into flames like this. However,if it’s conjoined to some extremely, flammable green netting that essentially serves, as a high temperature, fire starter like those white blocks that come with the camping stoves, you know.Only then does bamboo become fuel for fire.Think of bamboo like a wet old log.

If you stand next to it [music] flicking your I love one chai lighter, you’re never going to get anywhere near to igniting it.However,if you dow it in petrol and put it on some fireworks and 20 packs of matches,it’s going to become fuel for the fire due to it burning very hot.Bamboo has an ignition point of 260° C.For you Americans, that just means it needs to get incredibly hot to burn.Imagine like double the heat of a McDonald’s deep fat fryer.Okay? But even then, bamboo doesn’t properly burst into flames. It’s an extremely bad heat conductor.Meaning in fires, bamboo just kind of simmers away. For my Americans, it kind of grills like some gizzies on a on a hot stove.Apply the previous metaphor to the Wang fires. The bamboo is the wet log.The green netting is the petrol and the fireworks and the matches. For almost a year before the tragedy happened, residents of the apartment complex had been complaining, to the construction company and to the government agencies.

about the dangerous flammable mesh. It’s meant to be inspected, fortnightly and the nets are supposed to be extremely fire retardant.Well, obviously they weren’t and Hong Kong’s government knows this very well. The infamous flammable, green netting is obviously the issue here, not the bamboo. You want proof the government knows this?Well, over the last week or two,all over the city, this green netting has been ripped down as fast as possible.Behind the scenes, the HK government has [music], ordered all the developers they, lease their land to, get rid of that goddamn green netting like your life depends on it,bro.Probably because your life actually does depend on it, bro.Now before I say this next point, just remember in Hong Kong, metal scaffolding is usually used for more luxury, apartment block kind of real estate outside of the city. The government makes a big profit by investing and facilitating, these kind of developments.Bamboo scaffolding is usually used for lower income traditional.

poor old-fashioned buildings. The HK government doesn’t make much profit on these properties. They don’t hold anywhere near the same kind of value as the luxury real estate. So surprise surprise, following the aftermath of Wang Fox fires, the Hong Kong, government have capitalized on this tragedy and made a lot of extremely, anti-bamboo, statements and proposals.Bamboo scaffolding genuinely might be banned in the city at some point, meaning even less maintenance of the lower income housing, even less developments for the lower class. The housing stock stagnates. The demand gets higher.Rent prices inflate and inflate and inflate because of the lack of regulation, and [music] the lack of any new low-income property.More apartments will turn into subdivided, coffin flats to suit the growing demand. The government won’t do because they hate homelessness with a passion.More and more slum cage rooms get established. And the price of [music] these coffins, will eventually catch up with the current average.

normal apartment price.and people who want to live in average normal apartments, will have to move into coffin homes, once again, eroding the middle class away completely.Hong Kong’s polarization, of the poor and the ultra rich will just get worse and worse, because whilst the peasants are being brutally, by Diddy the rich will just get richer.More metal scaffolding, development, means more and more pen houses on Repulse, Bay until it isn’t even a beach anymore. There’s going to be no coast [music] left. It’s just going to be one gigantic penthouse, the whole thing, which artificially, raises the average real estate price up and we’re left with a vicious cycle of, And we know this is the sole reason the Hong Kong’s, government are so interested and eager to ban bamboo, scaffolding.Because if they actually thought bamboo was the fire hazard here, why would they have desperately, rushed so hard to strip the entire nation’s green netting away?

Maybe because green netting is the only flammable thing in this entire equation. Also,I don’t see how metal scaffolding, is any less flammable than bamboo since metal scaffolding, almost always incorporates, wooden planks.Wood, you know, the bits they stand on, that’s always wood.Even in Hong Kong, look at all these photos. And wood is obviously way more flammable than bamboo. It’s wood.I honestly think Xiinping’s, main tactic when it comes to destroying, and defeating [music] Hong Kong is simply just to sit back and let them continue, down this real estate spiral to hell.Let Hong Kong ruin itself till the entire peninsula, is so unequal and mismanaged that at some point before 2047,either everyone riots and burns Hong Kong to the ground,or all the lowincome housing blocks catch on fire and explode, leaving HK in ruin so the CCP can swoop in and install 40,000, Alibaba, distribution warehouses for Shenzen to drop ship gigantic gorilla sofas from.

Hong Kong’s dire situation and possible future creates a dilemma. In their bordering nation, the country they’re somewhat ruled by and they are, widely considered to be like oppressed by China.Housing is seen as a necessity, a human right, not a commodity. No government investment profits, no luxury real estate. And this isn’t me glazing, okay?I know extremely well China has had a lot lot lot, worse housing disasters, than these fires due to the quick and cheap building of apartments to mass, house their citizens. However, the overall results affordable homes,90%, home ownership rate pushing everyone, closer into the middle class, instead of pushing them out to, the poor and elite fringes, of society, like in Hong Kong, like in the UK.This is why it’s become the China, trip group chat, not the Japan, trip group chat. This is what is fueling the great Chinese shift in mindset.Okay?Because everyone I think we can all agree home ownership is extremely important. No matter if you hate China or love them,

we can all agree home ownership and not renting is very good.I want to own a crib. You want to own a crib.Owning a crib gives you freedom and power. You can actually save up money, instead of spending a massive, chunk of it every month on rent, whilst a big real estate company, reaps the reward, you’ve generated for them. That being the property’s value going up.It’s their investment, not yours.Even though you live there in Hong Kong, the top 0.001%,a tiny tiny group of elites, control over half the city’s income equivalent wealth. All of these elites are involved in real estate.100% of it.And if you don’t use the buzzwords [music] CCP,I think even MAGA Americans would agree that this property system is, and completely needs to be abolished and changed.>> What policy do you support to make it easier for young people to buy homes?>> Get rid of Black Rockck purchasing, a bunch of homes and renting, them back to us.>> Okay. So, like seize their assets?>> Not seize their assets.

Make it illegal that asset managers over $500 billion, can’t buy single family homes.>> Okay.I I really agree with that. That’s actually that’s that’s great.>> Thank you.Um it’s it’s a super simple policy fix.If you have assets under management over 500 billion or 100 billion, you should not be in the single family home business.Period.>> Okay. And that that’s artificially boosting housing prices across the country.I believe home ownership is a moral good for all humans.>> It’s crazy that like literally everyone on the political spectrum, can agree we should own our houses. And I’m not saying Hong Kong should be China.Okay.My point of view is simply that maybe, Hong Kong’s government should just try and find a tiny, tiny tiny middle ground between this, and this.Maybe Hong Kong’s government should sacrifice, a couple minuscule, minute, percent of their real estate portfolio’s, value and build some normal housing for normal humans, not pen houses in Repulse Bay for guos like me.Okay.

Hong Kongers get a very bad rep in Asia. They’re stereotyped as rude, bossy, mean, stressed out,and unfriendly. This is not entirely true. When I was in Hong Kong, I genuinely met some of the nicest people ever.Usually when they were drunk. But that being said,I think if these guys were just allowed, basic livable homes without the stress of your crib spontaneously, combusting and spit roasting you alive like some shoe.If Hong Kongers, could just live life without, the stress of any of the issues, I’ve mentioned in this video, they might be a bit more friendly, you know?Okay, this video took me a significant percent of my life to make. So,I’m going to crack open a sing, towel and tell you if you liked, it and you want to help me out, just spam any of these buttons, bro.Engagement farm for like 5 seconds.I would really, really, really appreciate that, bro.Thank you from the bottom of my guo heart.Thank you. Most importantly, if you want to help me ratio Benjamin Netanyak, hit the subscribe button.
